Good News Club® is Child Evangelism Fellowship’s® (CEF™) school year ministry program that meets kids with the gospel in schools, homes, community centers, churches, apartment complexes, or anywhere children can easily and safely meet with their parent’s permission.

Good News Club® offers churched and unchurched children an opportunity to participate in a once-a-week (duration of 7 weeks minimum), gospel-centered community event that includes Bible lessons, songs, Scripture memory, a missions story, and review games or other activities focused on the lesson’s theme. Each club includes a clear presentation of the Gospel and an opportunity for children to trust the Lord Jesus as Savior. Every club also includes strong discipleship training to build character and strengthen moral and spiritual growth.

In 2023 alone, CEF workers around the world put on 84,244 Good News Clubs, where 4,427,378 children were reached with the Good News of the Gospel. Good News Clubs are done under the authority of the local church and are taught by trained teachers, children’s ministry workers, and other believers with a love for children.

Depending on the location of the Good News Club®, CEF of Montana’s role will vary. Below you’ll find a basic breakdown of the differences:

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Good News Club® Team do?

A Good News Club® team is made up of a leader/coordinator for the club, who heads up the planning of the Good News Club® in conjunction with the CEF of Montana Ministry Coordinator. Additionally, the Good News Club® teachers and helpers are responsible for teaching the lessons, leading music and game time, taking care of registration and snacks, and the children’s needs. The church is responsible for providing these workers.

Why does CEF require certain aspects to be a part of a Good News Club®?

Good News Club® is a nationally recognized program that traditionally takes place in public schools. Because it is nationally recognized, Child Evangelism Fellowship® is more easily able to get these programs into public schools. Child Evangelism Fellowship® also provides the liability insurance that is required for these clubs. As a result, this insurance requires us to have certain aspects at each Good News Club® to classify it as a “Good News Club®.”

Are church volunteers required to complete background checks before they can participate in a Good News Club®?

If a church plans to host a Good News Club® in a public school, CEF of Montana requires the church to follow our Child Protection Policy, which requires anyone over the age of 18 to complete a background check.

If the church plans to host a Good News Club® somewhere other than a public school, then the Good News Club® volunteers must follow the requirements for participating in children’s ministry as laid out in their church’s Child Protection Policy.
